Searching for an in home day care provider these days can be tough, especially with the economy shaky and job security... not exactly as secure as you would have hoped. It is going to be a trade off between going with an in home day care provider that you are most happy with that you can also afford.
But what criteria should you seriously consider in selecting an in home day care provider?
First, is to check the environment where your child will be spending 8 hours a day. Does it look safe? Is it clean? How many kids are there? Is there an adequate number of care providers to the number of children at the day care?
Find out what sort of backgrounds the providers and the supervisor have. Do they have the necessary background? Are they licensed?
Third, is to find out what's on the menu. Most home day care centers provide home cooked meals and snacks and can work with you if you have specific instructions for the meals to be served your child.
One important aspect to take a look at are the day care's activities. Do they promote interaction? Does it help in the development of a child's communication and learning abilities?
Finally, find out what other parents have to say about the in home day care provider you are considering since parents almost always go with a provider that they trust.
